There's a lot to worry about here.

H- Hah, yeah, I... took a closer look at the shotgun and its ammunition and I didn't feel like being made into a fine swiss cheese. Even if Tempo managed to aim away from something vital the splash damage would still do a great deal of bad.

Smart thinking . . . as smart as you can be about that. Shotguns are perfect for close combat because of the spread.
