And then pauses, squinting at the window. ]

He picks up a few of the last things he didn't grab, but also pauses]

[ He lifts up a finger, listening for another long moment. ]

. . . Does it seem a bit too quiet out there?

[his eyebrows furrow but he quietly steps closer to the window to listen, too]
