[ He flashes him a smile before stretching, looking back up at the ceiling. ]

[he grows quiet as well, only shifting to fold an arm under his head before settling down]

[ cool. two guys just chilling on the basement floor. this is nice. ]

[it is nice. That should bother him, but]

[ it's nice, companionable silence. ]

[the way his mind isn't wandering to the usual spots is a small miracle.

After the silence stretches on a while, he finds himself laughing quietly]

[ He glances over at him, raising an eyebrow. ]

It just kind of hit me how . . . normal this kind of is.

Don't think we can get a full normal day, but . . . this is kind of nice.

And now that we've cleaned it, it even looks normal down here.

All it's missing is some old stuff piled in the corner.
